About The Project

Dominican Convent of San Marco

The Convent of San Marco in Florence envisions collaborations with Dominican educational institutions throughout the world, with particular attention to those serving university students pursuing advanced studies in Florence.

Founded in the 15th century the Convent of San Marco is a historical sight of the Dominican Order. It currently houses Dominican friars and is actively seeking financial support for a revitalization to its facilities in order to welcome young students and scholars who wish to encounter the Dominican experience through moments of prayer, fraternity, study, and preaching. San Marco can be a place where people from all over the world may spend either a short or long period of time in order to live this experience, all within the city of Florence, a city unique in the world for its history, culture, tradition, and art. The goal is to create effective collaboration in order to establish in Florence a place of encounter between research and spirituality in support of studies in art, restoration, philosophy, and theology.
