About The Project

Santa Sabina Order of Preachers

Santa Sabina or the General Curia, refers to the governing body of the Dominican Order, which is based at the Convent of Santa Sabina in Rome. It oversees the administration and activities of the worldwide Order, including the appointment of officials and the management of convents.

Support Santa Sabina

Help preserve the beloved home at the heart of the Dominican Order

For more than eight centuries, the Basilica and Convent of Santa Sabina have stood at the center of Dominican life. Here on Rome’s Aventine Hill, Saint Dominic prayed, preached and gathered the first friars. Today, Santa Sabina remains a living place of worship and the administrative center from which the Order of Preachers serves the Church throughout the world.

Your gift helps sustain this extraordinary spiritual and historical patrimony—and ensures that it remains alive for generations to come.

What your gift supports

The General Curia of the Order of Preachers

Santa Sabina is home to the Order’s General Curia, which assists the Master of the Order in serving the worldwide Dominican family. From this convent, the Order supports the mission of friars, nuns, apostolic sisters, laity and priestly fraternities across continents and cultures. Your generosity strengthens this service of governance, communication and coordination, helping Dominicans proclaim the Gospel throughout the world.

The General Archive of the Order

The General Archive preserves centuries of documents recording the life, mission and governance of the Order of Preachers. These irreplaceable materials bear witness to the Dominicans’ service to the Church and their contributions to theology, preaching, education, culture and public life. Support helps protect, conserve and organize these historic collections while making them accessible to future generations of scholars and members of the Order.

Preserve the past. Sustain the mission. Prepare the future.

Santa Sabina is a thriving center of prayer, study, community and preaching. Every gift helps care for this historic home while sustaining the Order’s mission today. We invite you to become part of this work. Through your generosity, the legacy entrusted to the sons and daughters of Saint Dominic can continue to serve the Gospel and the Church.
